NOSTEEL has been on the air at WPTS in Pittsburgh since the Fall of 2005. Formerly a DJ at WMCNin St. Paul, Minnesota from 1995-1999, and part of the DJ partnership known as Paris '68, based in Detroit, since 2002, NOSTEEL has been reengaging the potentialities of the radio form... before it's too late. To do that NOSTEEL has invited a number of guests on to the air to explore topics from biking in Critical Mass, Mod, Northern Soul, Ralph Ellison, the state of techno and hip-hop, and many aspects of Pittsburgh's unique cultural scene. Guests have included: Edgar Um, Tom Cox, Jwan Allen, Anthony Susan, Christine Feldman, Richard Purcell, Justin Hopper, E-Z Lou, Kelly Carter, Ray Lugo, DJ Angelus, Shawn Rudiman, and Zack Furness.
The future sounds bright.

Realmz (Sonic Groove): March 25, 2007

Realmz is a project sound designed and beat constructed by Pittsburgher Robert D'atri that crosses boundaries of industrial, machine made rhythms and experimental atmospherics, as well as underground techno/electro. During the 1990's D'atri discovered the burgeoning underground dance music culture of the east coast, midwest and Canada, encouraging him to begin working on musical projects in friends studios and eventually leading to the purchasing of his own equipment. After living in Seattle for a few years, D'atri moved back to Pittsburgh in 2005, continuing his musical explorations. In the summer of 2006, D'atri attended the Detroit Electronic Music Festival and gave out demos. Responses were positive with a key nod from the well-known techno producer and label chief Adam X, who soon after began playing D'atri's tracks in his DJ sets. This last February, Adam X's label, Sonic Groove, released "Individuation" by Realmz.

06/08/2006 10:00 PM: Paris '68 wsg Outputmessage @ Club Havana, Shadyside, Pittsburgh, PA 15201,US

Paris '68 and Jason C @ Club Havana present Outputmessage. Born in Queens, New York, in 1983, spending his formative middle-school years in New Jersey, and finally ending up in Richmond, VA, Bernard Farley (aka Outputmessage) can be given that rare title of "young musical prodigy." During his time in New Jersey, he first became fascinated with a broad range of music, eventually keying in on electronic; and when his family got its first computer in the summer of 1998, he began making music on his own. Now, while a mathematics graduate student at Virginia Tech, he spends his off time writing tight, hook-laden tracks. Outputmessage debuted with a remix of Dabrye on the Payback 12", alongside the esteemed Prefuse 73, and a track ("Bernards Song") on Ghostly's Idol Tryouts compilation before even turning 20. Later the Oneiros EP was released on Echelon Productions. This year "Sommeil" was released on the Ghostly's Idol Tryouts Two compilation and Outputmessage's debut LP, Nebulae, is set to drop this June on Melodic. Outputmessage was also recently selected to be in URB's Next 100.
